The Technology organisations is a key enabler of the 123 Direct Channel success. It consistently executes at speed and delivers on their ambitious goals. The business strategy is built around continued technology enablement and a significant Digital agenda has been outlined for the future. Because of this, they wish to hire a CIO who can help build and shape the organisations to deliver on the Digital journey working alongside senior management on this exciting and important company mission

Excellent opportunity for experiences CIO to taking on agile working of 123.ie IT department. 

This role reporting to the CEO, you will lead a team across Software Development, Quality Assurance, Production Engineering and Operations. The teams are based at our Dublin office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will develop, drive and deliver our technology strategy in line with the company’s strategic and operational plans.
  • As part of the Senior Leadership team you will work closely with the executive team to develop and drive the company’s mission, goals and products.
  • Design and implement the structures for effective decision-making and information sharing across the technology organisation, ensuring the teams are communicating effectively between them and sharing interdependencies.
  • Build a strong connection and symbiosis with the business teams to ensure there is cohesion and shared goals.
  • Manage senior stakeholders, presenting regular updates to the senior leadership team, flagging deviations and setting expectations for delivery.
  • Be a key player in the design and establishment of a high-performance organisational culture for 123.ie
  • Lead the teams in the creation of Software and Platform Architecture that delivers agile change at pace to meet the continued evolution of the business.
  • Set goals and measures that drive consistent delivery of software enabling the 123 Direct channels, including oversight for the engineering roadmap process each quarter.
  • Oversee the optimisation of the cloud and enterprise infrastructure, to underpin the required performance along with ensuring that there is appropriate alerting and monitoring to facilitate effective service management.
  • Evangelize Dev Ops and Agile working with software engineering to drive the adoption of best practices.
  • Work with group security to deliver best in class cybersecurity and have a clear strategy and approach for redundancy and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Maintain an appropriate balance across short-term and long-term planning and resource investment.
  • Keep fully up-to-speed on the latest ideas, techniques, technologies and tools.

Requirements:

  • A leader, not just a manager, who can motivate a software engineering organization and create a great working environment with a proven track record of leading and driving engineering / technology teams in Agile delivery.
  • A deep background in Digital and Cloud-scale systems, continuous improvement and DevOps culture. You are regarded as an expert in software engineering delivery.
  • Familiarity with ecommerce technology as well as having an appreciation for marketing and CRM solutions preferred.
  • Determined to drive for results; takes ownership and responsibility for tasks and overcomes obstacles.
  • You look for opportunities to improve how the teams work together and you can drive them to effective and timely decisions.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to set priorities for teams, negotiate to establish feasible schedules and work to deadlines
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce clear and concise reporting
  • Computer Engineering or Computer Science Degree preferred.
