Digital Data & Design Lead

Digital customer experience sits at the heart of everything we do at We have embarked on a digital evolution journey, and we require a passionate Design and Data Lead to join the team in helping us launch, run, and grow our digital services.

In this role you will be accountable for developing a team of Design and Data Analytics Professionals who are responsible for the roll-out and ongoing improvements to our digital platforms. This team champions the customer, ensuring all new product developments and initiatives are focused on improving our digital customer experience, but also supports the achievement of our business objectives.

This is a unique role and will suit an individual with a strong business insight who can think strategically and has proven leadership skills.


Key Responsibilities:

Vision and Strategy

  • Data is a key enabler for the development of 123 Business Strategy. Design thinking combined with enhanced predictive analytics ensures we remain passionate about delivering continuous value to our customers, and we understand how to measure that value.
  • Establish a strategy to enable data driven decisioning to help with the development of a backlog of initiatives which delivers against the business strategy.
  • Establish and implement a plan to mature our Data Analytics capabilities towards a predictive data ops model.
  • Use Change Leadership fundamentals to embed design thinking methodologies within the organisation to enable faster decision making on where to play.
  • Gather the necessary collaborator agreement to ensure these standard methodologies are embedded within the organisation.

People Leadership

  • Manage a team of Digital Professionals (circa 7 people).
  • Develop the individuals on the team. Help them get better at Data Analytics and Design and grow as product professionals.
  • Remove impediments the team members face and act as an escalation partner for problems the individual product people cannot solve.
  • Set clear expectations and agree on specific, measurable, and outcome-based goals.


  • Work with the Squad Scrum Master to mature our Agile WOW, embed design thinking practices and Data Driven decisioning into our WOW.
  • Establish the processes for measuring success and establishing predictive analytics to give clear insights for Stop, Pivot, Continue decisions.
  • Resolve sophisticated problems with undefined solutions with a focus on Lean working practices and customer centricity.


  • Work with business leaders from across RSA to understand their needs and drivers and also promote the Customers viewpoint with those same leaders.
  • Continuously improve collaboration across multiple functions within RSA to deliver better results for our customers.



  • 5 years minimum proven experience in a digital or commercial leadership role, working specifically with Design and Data teams.
  • Qualifications in digital, project management, web development or behaviour science preferred.
  • 3 years+ experience working within Agile frameworks and with Agile teams.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional collaborators to deliver on key initiatives.
  • Ability to act as a mentor and coach to others on the team.
  • Evidence of leading a digital project from initial concept through to launch.
  • Good understanding of digital technology and its evolution.
  • Analytical thinker comfortable making data driven decisions.
  • Work experience in a financial services company an advantage but not essential
  • Proficient in all MS suite of tools


Regulatory Requirements:

  • If this role is defined as a "controlled function" by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011. Any appointment will be conditional on the company being satisfied that you meet the requirements as set out in the Fitness & Probity standards issued in this Act.
